What others have to say about Focusing and Coaching

  • "It’s a powerful technique to access the body and one’s inner world. I think coaches often encounter difficulty getting a client to go there. Focusing seems easier somehow. I’m pretty aware of my body and inner world from all the work I’ve done on it, but nothing has been as powerful as focusing at “getting right down to it."          Will, coach

  • "It gives the client a language to communicate other non-cognitive senses or feeling with the coach and thus give another pathway to helping the client make change." Megan, coach

  • "A deep respect for this process. Simple yet so powerful a life tool."  Marianne, coach

Elke Ruggaber

Associate Certified Coach (ACC)  (2015, The International Coach Federation)

Certified Focusing Professional  (2017, The International Focusing Institute)

Elke has been Focusing since 2013 and decided to become a coach because of Focusing. She completed a 2 year coaching program with Doug Silsbee in the Presence-Based® Coaching modality in Asheville, NC, in 2015 and then trained with Cathy Pascal in Chapel Hill, NC to complete the Focusing Certification in 2017.

"Born from a deep desire to combine coaching with Focusing and making this material of embodied change more widely available, Elke decided to move forward with her own offer while attending a class called "Coaching from Source".  The coaches in that program kept asking: "How exactly can I step into somatic openings? How can I help my clients access their creative side? How do I become a presence container for myself and my clients?" Focusing can answer the "how to" questions and is versatile enough so that the coaches can make the modality their own."

Karen Quatsoe

Certified Focusing Trainer (2017, The International Focusing Institute)

Karen is a Focusing Teacher who brings to the practice the creative inclinations developed through her several careers in the art and design field. She has been Focusing for more than 10 years, and has completed the 2-YR. Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) program in NYC with Charlotte Howorth in 2017. She also has training in Mindfulness, Yin Yoga and is currently working towards a Certification in Focusing and Expressive Arts (FOAT®) with Dr. Laury Rappaport.

“Focusing is not just a series of steps to practice but a way of being in the world. It allows us to listen, hear and connect to the deep knowing of our body as it moves organically towards the process of change. As a coach you will have the opportunity to learn how to recognize, nourish and encourage the inner wisdom that is already emerging from your clients with greater depth and presence.”
